Mayor Sam Katz is looking to reward outstanding youth in Winnipeg through two youth-oriented initiatives.

Nominations for the 2010 Lehotsky Scholarships are currently being accepted. The Lehotsky Scholarship Fund was created to award scholarships to inner city youth, and each year, the Mayor awards $5000.00 to recipients who are advocates for health and safety in the West End. The Mayor is also urging people to nominate youth for the inaugural Mayor’s Youth Recognition Awards. These awards honour youth who are actively engaged in civic issues and whose accomplishments in the areas of arts, athletics, diversity, volunteerism and advocacy have had an impact on the quality of life for all Winnipeggers. Youth between the ages of 15 and 24 are eligible for nomination. Deadline for nominations is June 4, 2010. Click here to view the nomination form.
