| 1000 words, one great story |
|
Aside from the words toque and eh, there are many words rarely used outside of Canada. To celebrate the launch of the Collins Canadian Dictionary, which features words unique to Canadians, HarperCollins and The Globe and Mail are launching a Thousand-Word Short Story Contest. Entries must include a minimum of 10 out of 40 qualifying Canadian words. Think you can use the terms garburator, humidex and beaver fever in a story? Try your hand at this contest. The winning author may have their story published in The Globe and Mail as well as receive a $1,000 HarperCollins library. Submissions must be in by Canada Day.
